Welcome
St. Michael's Centre, a 144 bed Complex Care and Hospice facility in South Burnaby, is dedicated to the provision of a home-like, yet stimulating atmosphere for long term senior residents and hospice patients. St. Michael's Centre operates on an interfaith basis, providing the best of restorative and supportive care to all residents regardless of their belief system or cultural background. Care and services provided are values based and focus on: spirituality, dignity, compassion, sense of community and professionalism.
Complex Care
Complex Care services are designed to meet the needs of residents who require assistance with most daily activities. Dressing, eating, and enjoying recreational activities can become difficult for some residents without needed assistance.

Recruitment of Volunteers
The Department of Volunteer Services recruits volunteers to enhance the overall quality of life for Complex Care residents. Volunteers are involved primarily in social activities that increase the residents’ sense of identity, well being, self worth, and connection to the community.
We Are Looking for Volunteers Who...
Are a minimum of 16 years of age
Are able to make a minimum 6 month commitment or 75 hrs. of service
Are willing to abide by the policies & procedures of the healthcare facility
Are willing to provide a police record check if needed
Have the skills, strengths and experience to carry out their assignments
Are able to attend an Interview and Orientation Session with the Director, Volunteer Services
Will sign a Letter of Confidentiality
Are willing to take any additional training if required
